Community Bank® branch to go ahead

Barwon Heads, Wednesday 14 September 2011:

The people of Barwon Heads have filled their minimum share subscription, ensuring the Community Bank® branch will open its doors and begin servicing the local community.

The $770,000 target was achieved today with more than 240 shareholders in this exciting community venture.

Chair, Heather McCarthy said achieving minimum share capital was a momentous occasion for Barwon Heads.

“To raise $770,000 is a real credit to this great community and I say thankyou on behalf of the board.” Heather said.

“The people of Barwon Heads have shown great faith in the Community Bank® model; their community and Bendigo Bank and we look forward to now working towards the opening of our bank branch.”

Now that Barwon Heads Community Bank® Branch has been confirmed as a starter, the local company will continue to sell shares with a further 200,000 shares available for purchase.

One of the key elements to Bendigo’s Community Bank® model is having a wide shareholder base, made up of people affiliated with Barwon Heads who will transfer their banking to the branch.

The message now is if you haven’t done so already, purchase your shares in the Community Bank ® Company and prepare to transfer your banking business to our very own Barwon Heads Community Bank® branch in the very near future.

Now the board hopes to turn its attention to the construction and establishment of the branch in Hitchcock Avenue.
